Thematic Poster Sessions

Thematic Poster Sessions

Thematic Poster Sessions (TPS) are conducted with traditional paper posters.

2017 introduces the Interactio App – for easy listening of all TPS. Download the app and enjoy undisturbed audio of presentation commentary.

All authors are responsible for mounting and removing their own posters. Mounting material will be provided by Congress staff at the Poster Help Desk in the Poster Exhibition.

Presenters will receive their final abstract number in mid May by Email. This abstract number will be used to identify your abstract in the Congress programme. It will also be displayed on your poster board in the Poster Exhibition. Please note that it replaces the submission ID you received when submitting your abstract.

Abstract numbers on the poster boards and also session titles above the boards are colour-coded for each day:

  • Sunday 18 June 2017 – BLUE
  • Monday 19 June 2017 – RED
  • Tuesday 20 June 2017 – GREEN

If you need help finding your poster board, please consult the Poster Help Desk.

Here are two examples for the signage:

The posters are organised in thematic groups of 12-25 posters, and will be displayed for one day. At lunch time the presenters are required to stand by their posters and answer questions from delegates. During this time, two moderators will also visit each poster and ask the presenters to briefly present their findings.

Best presentation prize
A prize of EUR 200 will be awarded to the best presentation in each abstract session. The winners of the awards will be listed each evening at the EAACI Counter in the registration hall and acknowledged on the Congress website. The prize money will be paid after the Congress and a diploma will be sent by e-mail.

Poster mounting and presentation time
Your paper poster should be mounted and displayed at the following times:

  • Poster should be mounted: 9:00 – 10:00
  • Posters will be displayed: 10:00 – 16:30
  • Poster must be removed: 16:30 – 17:30

When removing your poster, please make sure to also remove all poster-mounting material from the board. The Congress staff will remove all posters not taken down on time. The Congress organisers will not take any responsibility for posters or other material left in the Poster Exhibition area.

Poster measurements
The maximum size of your poster should be 90 cm (width) x 120 cm (height), portrait style. Your poster number will be displayed at the top of your poster board.

Text layout
Give a short and comprehensive review of the basic items of your study. Divide your text into clearly delineated paragraphs and sections such as Introduction or Aim, Materials and Methods, Results and Conclusions. Remember that it is easier to read a paragraph of six lines or less. Your poster text should be enlarged so that it can be read at a distance of about one meter.

Illustration layout
Drawings, diagrams and pictures are helpful and often necessary to illustrate results and conclusions. Make sure that your illustrations are easy to understand. Do not overload charts or drawings with information

Conflict of interest
A disclosure of conflict of interest* must be included on the poster. It should be placed either on the top or the bottom of the poster and state:

In relation to this presentation, I declare the following, real or perceived conflicts of interest: (description of the conflict of interest)

OR

In relation to this presentation, I declare that there are no conflicts of interest.

* A conflict of interest is any situation in which a speaker or immediate family members have interests, which may cause a conflict with the current presentation. Conflicts of interest do not preclude the delivery of the talk, but should be explicitly declared. These may include financial interests (e.g. owning stocks of a related company, having received honoraria, consultancy fees), research interests (research support by grants or otherwise), organisational interests and gifts.

Trade names
Please note that the same rules apply for posters as for abstracts with regards to trade (brand) names and company names. Any place on the abstract and poster should not include the brand names (the trade name used for commercial purposes). Non-proprietary (generic, chemical) names of drugs should be used. Company names can be used in the authors’ affiliation and as a source to a material mentioned in the body of the poster, such as “Imiquimod (3M, Milwaukee, USA) was used to stimulate dendritic cells.”

As company logos are legally the same as the name of the company, they can be used in any place where the company name can be written.

If EAACI receives a complaint about the rules not being followed, the matter will be investigated after the Congress and appropriate action taken.

Patient Consent for publication of individual patient data
For all posters that include potentially identifiable personal details of patients (gender, age, illness, location) or images written informed consent for the publication of these must be obtained from the patient (or their parent or legal guardian). Please confirm in writing on the posters that the relevant consents have been collected.
