FAAM-EUROBAT 2024

Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Meeting & European Consortium on Application of Flow Cytometry in Allergy

21 - 23 November 2024
  • Athens, Greece

Welcome message from the Organizing Committee

Greetings from FAAM-EUROBAT 2024! We look forward to welcoming you to the ancient city of Athens and invite you to participate in the premier food allergy-focused meeting in the EAACI calendar.

Food allergy diagnosis and management has reached new heights in the last few years, and with the prevalence of food allergy increasing in both children and adults year on year, this is not a moment too soon. Diagnostic tests continue to evolve; those which have stood the test of time, such as skin prick tests, continue to be used alongside newer tests, such as molecular allergology and basophil activation tests. This year has seen the launch of some transformative management options for food allergy alongside big data on the long-term effectiveness of treatments. Despite the many innovations in treatment, effective dietary management remains paramount, but the focus is shifting towards a more holistic approach and emphasis on immuno-nutrition. As our world continues to change, we also note the effect of climate change and pollution on food allergy.

FAAM is one of the few worldwide meetings dedicated to food allergy and anaphylaxis. The topics in this meeting range seamlessly from bench to bedside, with discussions on immune mechanisms of food allergy, clinical pearls in food allergy, and immunomodulatory treatments for food allergy. The broad range of speakers from many countries and professional backgrounds, including allergists, immunologists, scientists, and allied health professionals, will attract a highly multi-disciplinary range of delegates. FAAM-EUROBAT also provides the opportunity to explore the latest discoveries and the new approaches to diagnosis and management, as well as the chance to converse with industry colleagues.

EUROBAT continues to fly the flag for innovation in diagnosing immediate IgE-mediated allergy. The use of this technology in food allergy is increasing, and it will provide an invaluable resource especially as we move into unknown territory with allergy to novel foods and insects. The drive to make it more mainstream presents some barriers, but the meeting will present new approaches to methodology, quality assurance, and consensus about the implementation and use of BAT in food and drug allergies.

FAAM-EUROBAT 2024 brings together world-renowned experts to showcase new approaches to diagnosing and managing food allergy, anaphylaxis, and basophil activation testing. The program aims to drive scientific advances and maximise patient care. We warmly invite speakers and participants from around the globe to join us in Athens to share knowledge and engage in beneficial discussions.

We look forward to seeing you in November!
