Allergy School on Insect Venom Allergy and Mastocytosis

11 - 13 April 2019
  • Groningen, The Netherlands

Welcome to Allergy School on Insect Venom Allergy and Mastocytosis!

Educational Aims

  • To improve the understanding of insect venom allergy in the context of mastocytosis
  • Diagnosing insect venom allergy
  • Deciding about the right venom (diagnostic tools including skin tests, serologic IgE including recombinant Venom; other tests like BAT)
  • Indications for AAI (when and how long) Immunotherapy (treatment schedules, duration of treatment)
  • Relation with mastocytosis
  • Diagnosing mastocytosis
  • Sting challenges (how to perform)
  • Indications before, during and after immunotherapy

Expected Learning Outcomes

After the allergy school, delegates should be able to diagnose insect venom allergy and differentiate from other reactions, (when thinking of mastocytosis and of how to diagnose and treat) diagnosing the right insect and interpreting this for choosing the right venom for immunotherapy; prescribe diverse initiation schedules, identify potentially severe adverse reactions and when to initiate or stop venom immunotherapy.

Target Audience

This allergy school focuses on the specific topic of Insect Venom Allergy and Mastocytosis and it is built to offer a solid foundation in this area. It is therefore attractive to experienced individuals who are new to the particular field, for fellows in training and EAACI Junior Members, as well as professionals with a particular interest in the Insect Venom Allergy and Mastocytosis. Limited group sizes of around 100 international participants enable great dialogue throughout the allergy school.

We look forward to welcoming you in Groningen!
