EAACI Symposium on Epithelial Barriers, Microbiome and Planetary Health 2026

01 - 03 October 2026 |
  • Capadoccia, Türkiye

Dear Participants,

On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the EAACI Symposium on Epithelial Barriers, Microbiome and Planetary Health 2026, taking place from 1 to 3 October 2026 in the unique setting of Cappadocia, Türkiye.

The epithelial barrier has emerged as a cornerstone of human health, serving as the body’s first line of defence and a dynamic interface between the external environment and the immune system. Advances in our understanding of epithelial biology, the microbiome and environmental exposures have transformed the way we view the development of allergic and inflammatory diseases, opening new opportunities for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, global challenges such as pollution, urbanisation and climate change have reinforced the importance of planetary health as a key determinant of immune resilience and disease.

This symposium has been designed to bring together internationally renowned experts, clinicians and researchers to explore the latest scientific advances in epithelial barrier biology, mucosal immunity, microbiome research and environmental health. Over three days, participants will engage in a stimulating programme of keynote lectures, scientific sessions, oral and poster presentations, and interactive discussions covering the mechanisms that drive allergic disease and the innovative approaches shaping the future of our specialty.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the interplay between epithelial barrier dysfunction, immune regulation, microbial communities, metabolism, biomarkers and environmental factors across the airway, skin and gut. By integrating discoveries from basic science with translational and clinical research, the symposium aims to foster new perspectives and encourage multidisciplinary collaboration that will ultimately improve patient care.

Beyond the scientific programme, this meeting provides an exceptional opportunity to strengthen international collaborations, exchange ideas with colleagues from around the world and support the next generation of scientists and clinicians working in allergy and clinical immunology. We hope that the conversations initiated in Cappadocia will inspire future partnerships and accelerate progress in understanding the complex relationship between epithelial barriers, the microbiome and planetary health.

The Organising Committee looks forward to welcoming you to Cappadocia for three inspiring days of scientific excellence, collaboration and innovation.

With warm regards,

The Organising Committee
