Prof. Dr. med. Knut Brockow is a Professor of Dermatology and Allergy at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy Biederstein, TU Munich, Germany and Honorary Adjunct Professor in Allergology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark. He studied medicine in Bonn, was trained as a dermatologist and allergist at the University Hamburg and TU Munich. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Laboratory of Allergic Diseases with Dean Metcalfe, NIAID, NIH, USA. He had and has multiple activities in the European Competence Network on Mastocytosis as well as European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) in Task Forces, Interest groups and Section leaderships, has been chair of the EAACI exam committee and is active in German allergy organisations. His research areas are on anaphylaxis (mechanism, elicitors, diagnosis, therapy), mast cell diseases (urticaria, mast cell activation syndrome), mastocytosis (clinical picture, therapy), and drug hypersensitivity.
