Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I apply for a UK visa?
You can apply online from any country that has a Visa Application Centre (VAC). During the application process, you will be asked to select your current location, which will generate a list of available VACs in that country.
If you are applying from a country without a VAC, you may still submit an online application; however, you must travel to a VAC in another country to complete the biometric process.

How can I find information about my visa application?
Comprehensive guidance is available on the Standard Visitor Visa page.
Can I apply in a language other than English?
While the online application form is available in multiple languages, all answers must be completed in English. Additionally, any supporting documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation.

How long does the visa application process take?
Standard processing time is approximately 3 weeks from the date biometric information is submitted. We recommend applying well in advance of your intended travel date.
Expedited services, such as Priority and Super Priority, may be available in some locations for an additional fee.
What is biometric information?
Biometric information includes fingerprint scans and a digital photograph. This data must be provided each time you apply for a UK visa.
Can I start my visa application early?
Yes. You may begin your application more than three months before your intended travel date. Once you create an account and provide an email address, you will receive a link to return to your application at any time, allowing you to complete it at your convenience.
What should I do if my visa is refused?
Visa refusals are made only after careful assessment by an Entry Clearance Officer. If your application is denied, you will receive a refusal notice outlining the reasons. You are permitted to submit a new application, but it is strongly recommended that you carefully review the refusal notice and address all issues raised before reapplying.
What is an ETA?
An Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) grants permission to travel to the UK but does not guarantee entry. It also does not confer the right to live, work, or study in the UK.
Travellers must still seek formal permission to enter the UK upon arrival—either by passing through an eGate (if eligible) or speaking with a Border Force officer.
Please ensure you review the relevant links above and complete all application steps well in advance of your departure to avoid delays.
