BackSY31 - Adrenaline autoinjectors for people at risk of anaphylaxis
Objectives
To discuss the benefits of autoinjectors, both in terms of giving patients and carers confidence and for managing severe acute allergic reactions, and highlight inequities in the provision and pricing of autoinjectors across regions and countries
To discuss the limitations of currently available adrenaline autoinjectors, using trends in prescribing and fatalities and pharmacokinetic and dynamic data to highlight knowledge gaps in our understanding of the clinical effectiveness and safety of adrenaline autoinjectors
To discuss the limitations of current intramuscular adrenaline delivery devices, and highlight emerging developments in the management of anaphylaxis using alternative approaches such as adrenaline infusions, nasal or sublingual adrenaline
