Carmen Panaitescu, professor at Victor Babeș University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timișoara, is the president of the Romanian Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology.

Her research focuses on the evaluation of allergic sensitization patterns in western Romania, the implementation of molecular allergology and the development of technologies for the expression of recombinant allergens (national premiere) and the modulation of the immune response through allergen-specific immunotherapy and biological therapy. She is the editor-in-chief of Allergologia şi Fiziologia-Physilogy, a peer reviewer for Allergy and Clinical and Translational Allergy, and the author of over 80 scientific papers published in prestigious journals, 31 in ISI indexed journals, having a Hirsh index of 14 and more than 770 citations.
