Sigridur Jonsdottir

Sigridur Jonsdottir, is an immunologist and a group leader at the Institute for Experimental Pathology, University of Iceland, Keldur. Her main research focus, since her post-graduate studies, has been on equine immunology with the emphasis on insect bite hypersensitivity. She was born in 1985 in Iceland and studied biology at the University of Iceland with an emphasis on molecular biology. She soon got very fascinated by immunology and during her post-graduate study worked on insect bite hypersensitivity in horses under the supervision of Dr. Sigurbjörg Torsteinsdottir and Dr. Vilhjalmur Svansson at Keldur. She was involved in organizing the 4th International Workshop on Equine Skin Allergy, a Dorothy Russell Havemeyer Foundation Workshop. She did her post-docs in Switzerland at the lab of Dr. Antonia Gabriel, founder Evax and at the lab of Prof. Eliane Marti at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern continuing her research on insect bite hypersensitivity.
