Maria studied Biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU). After completing her Master’s thesis at the St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute in Vienna she joined the group of Professor Barbara Bohle at the Medical University of Vienna. In her PhD project she studies the humoral response to allergen immunotherapy with a strong focus on the IgE-blocking activity and avidity of AIT-induced IgG antibodies. 

In the present study (Poster TP-C115) she shows how affinity improvement of allergen-specific IgG antibodies, derived from an AIT-treated individual, advanced their capacity to inhibit allergen-induced basophil activation.
