P. Jane McDowell, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., is currently an academic clinical lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast having recently obtained her Ph.D. from the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine at Queen’s, under the supervision of Professor Liam Heaney. Her Ph.D. focused on the mechanisms underlying residual exacerbations in mepolizumab-treated severe asthmatics, and the quantification of glucocorticoid toxicity in severe asthmatics treated with oral glucocorticoids. Her ongoing interests include understanding mechanisms of exacerbations in asthma, and understanding how glucocorticoid toxicities change over time in patients with severe asthma commenced on biological therapies.
