Gonzalo Vílchez-Pinto
Spain
I was born in a small town on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. I discovered my interest in science while studying the International Baccalaureate (IB), and managed to graduate in Health Biology at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (UAH). After my Erasmus stay at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (Belgium), I became interested in the world of Molecular Biology, focusing on the nanoscopic processes that arise in biology. After finishing my master in Cell Biology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), I discovered the world of Structural Biology, which I fell in love with. I managed to obtain a FPI grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation with which I started my PhD in Biotechnology at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). I am currently working on my doctoral thesis at the Center for Biotechnology and Plant Genomics (CBGP), collaborating with the Plant Allergens group led by Araceli Díaz Perales, in which I am proud to participate.
