Associate Prof Debbie Palmer is head of the Childhood Allergy and Immunology Research Group at the Telethon Kids Institute, Perth, Western Australia. The primary research focus for this research group is investigating nutritional strategies for allergic disease prevention. The research group conducts randomised controlled clinical trials, mechanistic studies, and translatable research activities, all with the goal of reducing the rising burden of early-life allergic diseases. Her recent research has focused on immunomodulatory nutrients, like vitamin D and prebiotics, and both maternal and infant food allergen consumption of eggs, peanuts and cashew nuts.
