Birgit Pfaller

Birgit Pfaller is trained in internal medicine and holds a Master's in Science. After her residency, she trained in maternal counselling at the division of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, SickKids. She completed a clinical Fellowship in General Internal Medicine dedicated to Obstetric Medicine by managing high-risk pregnancies from the internist's perspective at the Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto. In the subsequent research fellowship at the Pregnancy and Heart Disease Program, she initiated and conducted the systematic review and position statement on "Biologics in atopic disease in pregnancy" for the EAACI and conducted studies on the outcomes of pregnant women with heart disease (CARPREG-Study).
2020 she accepted a clinician scientist position to establish a line of research on peri- and postnatal care for high-risk pregnancies at the University Hospital of St. Pölten, University of Health Science Krems.
